One of my team members, met me on a plane a few years back when she inquired “why do you carry so many phones?” That was back when we were running the Nokia Blogger Relations Program for the Finnish handset manufacturer. I was busy turning off phones as we were getting ready to take off. The young, then college senior, was mono-phonic at the time (she now carries two) and I was polyamorous when it came to digital devices, an affliction that still affects, and which I have not yet found a cure for. And it seems, I’m not alone.
The new iPass 2010 annual mobile workforce report presents a very comprehensive look at how those of us who don’t sit chained to a desk all day are now viewing not only the way we work, but also how technology is changing the workplace, providing hard facts that show how transformation and perception are going to make the workplace technology landscape different in a year or so down the road.
As a road warrior, I can relate to the findings. They are spot on with how people are behaving today, and in the USA we’re just becoming poly-phonic when it comes to phones, data plans and more. As time rolls along, you can expect even more people to be this way, as they look to both be connected, and accessible, while also dividing their life up.
Where did you go, TalkPlus.
